New Zealand Film Commission Appointments

John Barnett – of Auckland. Fifteen month re-appointment, expiring 30 June 2001. He is a film producer and distributor, has been a strong voice on the Commission as a ember since 1997. He is Managing Director of South Pacific Pictures Ltd, former Chairman of the Independent Producers and Directors Guild 1984-88, and producer of a number of successful New Zealand films, including Middle Age Spread and Beyond Reasonable Doubt. He was an associate member of the Film Commission from 1989-91.
Bill Birnie – of Auckland. Term commencing on date of appointment and expiring on 30 June 2003. He is a financier, working at FR Partners, in investment banking.
Helene Wong – of Auckland. Term commencing on date of appointment and expiring on 30 June 2003. She is a script consultant and editor, director, juror for the Film & TV awards, a former broadcaster and lecturer. She was Deputy Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee for the Bachelor of Communication Studies at the Auckland Institute of Technology 1990-99. She is considered to have a strong analytical capacity and no perceived conflicts of interest.
