New arts and culture appointments announced

Prime Minister and Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, Helen Clark, and Associate Minister Judith Tizard today announced new appointments to the boards of Te Papa, the New Zealand Film Commission, Creative New Zealand, Te Waka Toi, and the Arts Board.
"Dr Roderick Deane has been selected as chair of Te Papa because of his financial and management skills, and because of the outstanding personal contribution he has made and continues to make to arts and culture in New Zealand.
"Under Dr Deane's leadership the Te Papa board will be implementing the changes recommended by the Ministry of Culture review team and committed to the Statement of Intent tabled in Parliament today
"I also take this opportunity to thank Te Papa's outgoing chairman, Sir Ron Trotter, for his many years of service to Te Papa, and particularly for his forbearance during the time of very restrictive funding under the previous government."
Helen Clark offered her congratulations to all the new appointees and said that their contribution to New Zealand's cultural renewal is essential," Helen Clark said.
