NZ Post Explanation Unsatisfactory

NZ POST EXPLANATION UNSATISFACTORY
The explanation given by New Zealand Post over unbilled mail will not satisfy the New Zealand taxpayers whose dividends have been reduced by the amounts lost, the New Zealand First Leader, Rt Hon Winston Peters said today.
“The release shows that more than a million dollars of taxpayers’ money was involved in this one case which was settled out of court confidentially.
“It is difficult to know if this relates to matters I have raised as the essential details, such as the name of the company, are not being released publicly.
“And how many other cases are there that the public do not know about? How many schools and hospitals have been lost because of these kind of shonky business activities and behaviour which is clearly criminal?
“It appears that the taxpayers have been shortchanged in this case through what appears to have been defective monitoring equipment and a lack of will to prosecute,” said Mr Peters.
