LONDON TRAIN CRASH: London Train Crash - interview with NZ injured victim Brendan Bentley. The train drove through a red light. But the light is said to be obscured.
EAST TIMOR - GUN BATTLE: Gun battle in East Timor. Near Suai 150 militia members caught by Interfet troops. During the operation a truck tried to break out if the Interfet cordon and had its tyres shot out. Later a convoy escorting prisoners back to West Timor was ambushed. Soldiers counterattacked - two militia members were killed and two Australian soldiers wounded. There were NZ soldiers in the force involved in the first fire fight in 16 days. Nine prisoners are now being interrogated in Dili.
EAST TIMOR - LIVE I/V: There is some realism among forces here - says John Stuart live.
Q: Are forces massing on the border and threatening to attack?
A: A week ago we had militia leaders making big claims. The threats are being taken seriously as they must be. But I think we are more likely to see more of the skirmishes of the type we saw last night. We are on the way to a nasty dirty little series of these sort of incidents.
BUS STRIKE Bus strike. 300 stagecoach drivers walk off the job and bus passengers caught out by strike and pickets. Commuters had no warning and are finding it difficult.
KIRI AND MORRISON: Rotorua's big showpiece concert gave away 20,000 tickets to Rotorua locals to a Sir Howard Morrison and Dame Kiri te Kanawa concert today a further 20,000 tickets will be sold for $20 each.
