SECURITY COUNCIL: The UN Security Council is meeting to consider whether or not to send a mission to Jakarta to pressure the Indonesian government to keep peace and security as violence continues in the area.
DEFENCE: The Ministry of Defence says the 10 New Zealanders in East Timor are safe and there are not yet any plans to evacuate them.
MILITARY TIES: Defence Max Bradford says New Zealand will not be breaking our military ties with Indonesia over the violence in the country as the defence links are too important.
KILLING: The Crown has asked for lengthy jail sentences for the five people convicted of killing a mentally ill woman, Angelina Edwards.
EMPLOYMENT COURT: A hearing is being held in the Employment Court for the former WINZ staff member who resigned, saying she had become a scapegoat for the aircraft charter scandal.
CYPFA: The CYPFA chief social worker says it is not common to place children with gang members but they will not rule out the possibility of doing so.
EXPLOSIONS: Three people have been called in explosions in Israel after Palestine and Israel signed a peace deal which paves the way to end the Palentine – Israeli conflict.
