1. HANDSHAKES - A new development in the golden handshake row. The Government has confirmed that two former tourism
board members who received payouts will still get compensation, even though Jenny Shipley says she is opposed to golden
handshakes. TVNZ's political editor says the Government is dancing on the head of a pin on this one saying it will take
back what was given unlawfully, but will give some back in a legal way. National MPs are distancing themselves from the
PM over her handling of the issue.
2. POWER PYLONS - A court appearance and strict bail conditions for a 63 year old Methven man charged with damaging
power pylons in the South Island.
3. KOSOVO - President Clinton met the refugees from Kosovo today and appealed to them not to return before the area was
made safe. He received a hero's welcome. Meanwhile two Kosovo soldiers (KLA?) were buried. They were killed along with
two British army soldiers while clearing landmines. Meanwhile refugees who are returning face a grim struggle to rebuild
their lives with little in the way of material positions and little spirit of reconciliation.
4. ROYAL WINE - A kiwi couple are toasting their luck after their little known wine was served at the royal wedding.
