IRD GETS MEDICAL RECORDS: Rodney Hide is dumbfounded over a case in which the IRD asked for and received the medical records of a taxpayer. The Medical Association is also concerned at the case.
CHINESE PROTESTS: Labour MP Janet Mackey says an inquiry into Chinese protests during APEC last year will focus on how protestors were treated. It won’t focus on Jenny Shipley she says and the outcome has not been predetermined.
CARISBROOK: NZ Cricket will be launching an investigation into crowd behaviour at Carisbrook’s One Day International yesterday. Christopher Doig says he was upset with beer can sales at the ground. The Aussies who won by 50 runs say they are fed up with unruly kiwi crowds.
ECHELON: European Parliamentarians are asking for an investigation into the spy network Echelon.
KOSOVO: Further searches are underway in Mitrovica, Kosovo, for weapons. Peacekeepers want to show they are the main control.
MOUTOA GARDENS: Wanganui Mayor and Whanganui Iwi are hopefully the dispute over Moutoa Gardens can be settled quickly now the government has become involved.
AVALANCHE: At least four people are killed and one injured in an avalanche in the French Alps.
AMERICAS CUP: There might not be enough wind for the third race in the Americas Cup today.
CCC SCULPTURE: Christchurch City Council is rejecting claims that a large chalice sculpture commissioned for the Cathedral Square will make the city a laughing stock.
