PRADA WINS: Prada have won the war in the Gulf. For the first time in 149 years the Americans won't be competing for the

REPUBLIC ISSUE RAISED: Prime Minister chose NZ's national day to kick start the republican debate. Wearing black the PM
had a quiet day on Banks Peninsula - she did not mention republicanism in her speech but afterwards mentioned it to
reporters. The PM said she was in no hurry to return to Waitangi. Tonight Clark will watch the Rugby League at Erriccson
stadium.
WAITANGI: Maori Sovereignty flag run up the flagpole at Waitangi. One protestor charged with aggravated assault after
the protestors overpowered security staff at the site to get the flag up. Titewhai Harawira is pleased the flag was
raised. Protestors return in the afternoon and rally around the flagpole. 21 gun salute from Te Mana. Dun Mihaka has
also been charged in connection with the protests.
PM LIVE FROM ERRICCSON: I have had the happiest Waitangi Day in my life. This has shown what Waitangi Day can mean. I
think the automatic assumption that the PM should be at Waitangi is gone. I am intending to go around different Marae
and mark Waitangi Day with different people in future.
WAKA CAPSIZES: Waka capsizes near Porirua. All paddlers escape safely. Nothing to do with Waitangi day.
AUSTRIA: More violence in Vienna as protestors continue to protest the swearing in of a right wing government.
NORTHERN IRELAND: The IRA say they have never made any agreement to lay down their arms. The British Government is
poised to take back control over Northern Ireland.
ARMED ROBBERY: Kingsland Shell Service Station robbed by two men one with an old musket another with a machete - one
offender was wearing a beanie and sunglasses.
