GOVERNOR BRASH: The Governor of the Reserve Bank has defended his decision to raise interest rates this month. Dr Brash said the decision was based on widespread evidence the economy was growing faster than expected. Strong demand in September and a heating up economy.
SCREWDRIVER GANG: An Auckland lawyer is urging he Screwdriver Gang to contact him to act as an independent go-between for them and the police.
REGATTA MISHAP: Four people have been plucked from the water in Auckland after several yachts capsized in a big squall. Everyone in the water was found quickly.
AFRICAN PLANE CRASH: An Airliner has crashed in the sea off the Ivory Coast.
DINGHY PAIR FEARED DEAD: Two men who have been missing off the coast of Opunaki are feared dead and a search is scouring the coastline for their bodies. The search is in its third day and the pair are believed to have drowned. The pair went fishing in a three metre dinghy.
WINDSURFER LOST: Police in Auckland have called off the search for a windsurfer who went missing at the weekend.
TRUCK ACCIDENT: Traffic headed north out of Canterbury is being diverted and delayed while a truck accident is being cleared.
CHRISTIAN CULLEN: Christian Cullen's racing career is over following injury trouble. The horse will now stand at stud.
