AIR FARES: Travel agents are advising customers to shop around in the wake of price rises from Air New Zealand. Ansett hasn't yet decided to change its prices. Price changes blamed on falling dollar and higher oil prices.
JETSKI ACCIDENT: One of the country's richest men Allan Gibbs has been in a jetski accident while holidaying with Doug Meyers. A mother and daughter air lifted to hospital for back and leg injuries. Marine Radio Operator says the injured family say they are lucky to be alive and that Gibbs had apologised to them. If charged Gibbs faces up to a year in jail or a $10,000 fine.
UN AND AIDS: The UN Security Council has identified the AIDs virus a high priority for the next decade. Kofi Annan says AIDs is a very serious threat to economic and social security in Africa where the population of workers is dying faster than it can be replaced. 30 million more orphans are expected in next few years. Some cities have 1 in two adults infected.
