Judicial Conduct Commissioner To Be Appointed

Published: Thu 2 Jul 2015 10:50 AM
MPs will appoint the Judicial Conduct Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner when the House sits today.
Following Question Time MPs will vote on a Government notice of motion to appoint Alan Ritchie as the Judicial Conduct Commissioner and Kathryn Snook as the Deputy Judicial Conduct Commissioner, for five year terms.
This will be followed by the first reading of the Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Bill. A bill to confirm and/or validate, subordinate legislation that will lapse at a specified time unless it is earlier confirmed, or confirmed and validated, by an Act of Parliament.
Any remaining time will be taken with the first reading of the Evidence Amendment Bill. This Bill makes a number of minor and technical amendments recommended by the Law Commission, following its 2013 review of the Evidence Act.
