Video on Demand: The Prime Minister was later than normal for her regular post-cabinet press conference due to some pesky fog at Wellington Airport. When she did finally arrive the bulk of the conference dealt with what in the Prime Minister's opinion would alleviate crime and violence in South Auckland - namely more regulation around the sale of liquor.
The Prime Minister told the assembled media that the large number of outlets selling liquor was of particular concern to the Police and the Government would be looking for ways to tighten up on a situation she considered had got out of control since the loosening of liquor laws in 1989. The Prime Minister also appeared confident that the government's Emissions Trading legislation would get through its final hurdles despite National's opposition.
