After torturing political insiders for more than a year the secret of who had Don Brash's emails has finally been
revealed - New Zealand's leading investigative journalism sleuth and author Nicky Hager.
This morning at 11am Mr Hager held a press conference to announce the existence of a book "Hollow Men: A Study In The Politics Of Deception" which – thanks to Friday's injunction [Press Release - Full Text Injunction] obtained by Don Brash against John and Jane Doe – cannot now be sold and acquired for the nation's Christmas
stockings.
Mr Hager's 45 Minute press conference with the Press Gallery – and accompanying press-kit – both accessible in full on this page are therefore highly likely to be the only revelations of what is in this book
till the legal arguments have been sorted out.
Mr Hager said he and his publisher Craig Potton expected to be served with individual injunctions in relation to the
book shortly.

Mr Hager said his book contained explosive revelations concerning National Party leadership ties to surprising religious
and business groupings and was only partly based on email correspondence which was the subject of the injunction. In
particular the book contains the allegation that both aspiring National Leader John Key and National Party Campaign
Manager Stephen Joyce were significantly more informed about the activities of the Exclusive Brethren than hitherto
understood.
Mr Hager believed the injunction had been granted in the mistaken belief that the book contained embarrassing
information about Dr Brash's private life – which it did not. It was a political book, he said.
Mr Hager said he hoped that the National Party would avoid a long and protracted legal battle over the book by lifting
their injunction.
