San Francisco Protest Against Israel's Gaza & Lebanon Action In Front Of Israeli Consulate
By Aesha Lorenz Al-Saeed
Monday July 17, from 11:45 until 2:30 pm protesters gathered in front of the Israeli Consulate on Montgomery street with speeches, nationalistic and peace songs and chants. "Stop US Aid to Israel" "Israel How many children have you killed today" "you will see Palestine will be free" and "No Palestine and no peace" "Stop the bombing of Lebanon" and "Stop bombing Palestine."
Americans and some Jewish Americans also joined in the protest. One protester commented that she was tired of 3 billion dollars in aid going every year to Israel, and beelived it could be much better spent at home on health care.
A Jewish American said that (Israel) should stop bombing civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.
Many protesters were in favor of a two state soloution. An older Palestinian woman was also there with her grandmotherly hands clutching a Palestinian flag.
Zionist Jews gathered on the opposite side of the street, and shouted their own slogans, however there were twice as many protestors for the Palestine and Lebananon side, estimated to be about 100 persons at one point.
The march moved on at about 2:30 pm, marching half another city blocks to another location to address people with a bullhorn, explaining that the march was to draw attention of the American people to the fact that the national news is biased, and covers unjustice on the side of America's pro-Israeli foreign policy. It revealed the use of heat seeking missles by Israel into residential areas in Gaza, the unjustified invasion of Gaza and Lebanon, and the shrinking population centers of Palestinians into tiny locked up enclaves by the apartheid State of Israel.
American taxpayer's money is being used to build bombs that when they fall on Palestian and Lebanese territory say "made in America."
Of course, as expected, the local and national news barely gave the protest any mention, if at all, as they attempt to shelter the rest of the nation into thinking that the US isn't responsible for any terrorism and injustice in the Middle East and elsewhere.
