Today Maori Party co-leaders Tariana Turia and Pita Sharples announced they would be sitting in opposition for the next three years. Ms Turia considered that Labour had the numbers to govern without the Maori Party's support.
According to both Ms Turia and Mr Sharples the Maori Party will be approaching how it votes on legislation on a case by case basis. It was also intimated that the Maori Party would vote with the Government on its first test of confidence and supply.
