Is World War III Upon Us,
Or Is This Really Just a Game?
By Genevieve Cora Fraser
Is World War III upon us
Did it start while we were glued
Watching news from the local channel
Nightline, Frontline, CNN or Fox
Did Charlie Rose announce the line-up
Of the predatory pack
Did Larry King look stern, advise us
Or are we lost in history's rush
As the facts speed up and pass us
Did we even stand a chance
Storming Bagdad is behind us
Why retaliate for that
So some bombs are left at Aldgate
King's Crossing to Tavistock Square
Does it mean the war has started
Or did out leaders set the snare
Were they wrestling with woes in Africa
Nestled down in their Glen Eagle lair
Or are we caught in a global shell game
Mind games from Tele to Tube to scare
Can this really be happening to us
Were the warnings really for real
You bomb our cities we'll bomb yours
Now is that fair I ask of you
We're the greatest powers for certain
Ask our public relations crew
When folks doubt
We bombard them
So they haven't got a clue
We're the fakers and deceivers
The world is built on lies
But the money's good
So gee whiz shut your trap
Just visualize
Could Bin Laden be out to teach us
Is Al Quida not a game
Though the heads roll
On the nightly news
It's not my head
So I can't complain
Play along we want resources
That fuel our needs and dreams
Our nukes are bigger than their nukes
We'll just scheme and scheme and scheme
Will the euro or the dollar
Or the petro cash win out
Drop another bomb on Iraq
So they haven't got a doubt
Wrapped in flags and god and slogans
We proudly march along
Come join our merry band
Sing our favorite song
We're the biggest and the baddest
But we're nice guys none the less
And we'll squash you like a little bug
If you ever dare protest
You can keep your funny headdress
And plant your silly bombs
We'll raise our warning
To Red Alert
And merrily play along
ENDS
