The Tuesday WIRE with Noelle McCarthy. Produced by David Belgrave
On the show today…
12:00 bNews with Will. Weather and Surf with Noelle.
12:15 Jim Tully.
Prime Television recently announced that it would now pay interviewees in for certain stories. TVNZ and TV3 have said they wouldn’t ever do such a thing. The Prime Minister said yesterday that she would be “absolutely astounded” if one her ministers accepted payment but also said that it was common for British members of parliament to accept payments for media appearances. Is this a new trend in local media or is chequebook journalism really a bad thing? We ask all that and more of Canterbury mass communications lecturer Jim Tully.
12:30 Chris Taylor
Prime TV CEO Chris Taylor talks to us about their decision to pay those interviewees. We ask him if it’s simply a matter of deep pockets and low ratings. Also why they haven’t decided to release the ratings for Holmes. Oh, and for the record he’s not getting a cent out of us… [TO BE CONFIRMED].
1:00 Thespians Corner with Oliver Driver.
This week Oliver talks to the next big thing at the Silo. The Scentless Apprentice is a play based on the novel Perfume by Patrick Suskind. It’s about a dude who’s got this great sense of smell but doesn’t have any smell of his own. Ah yeah, righto…
1:15 Arts Hole with Sarah Hopkinson
This week Pocky interviews Jonathan Watkins curator of the On Kawara exhibition in New Plymouth.
1:30 Green Desk with Green Dean
A film crew is following around Dean this week. People have found out about his work saving the world from climate change, exhaust fumes and people who throw puppies off bridges. He’s in to spread the green word at 1:30.
1:45 Mag Review with Imogen Neal
Imo flys from her coffee table to yours via bFM every other Tuesday. This week brings as mag where the readers seem to do all the work! She’ll explain all at 1:45, (the cruisey end of the show).
Aucklanders can tune in at 95 on the FM dial. From the desk of Noelle McCarthy News and Editorial Director Radio 95bfm
