Scoop Images: Freak Hail Storm Closes Airport

A freak hailstorm this morning left up to 30mm of hail on the ground in parts of Miramar and on the Wellington airport runway. The hailstorm led to the closure of the Wellington Airport till around 10am. The following images were taken by Wellington resident Chas Plewinski and show Chas’s trip into town. Thanks heaps Chas!
