Published: Mon 21 Aug 2000 04:55 PM
Scoop's Guy MacGibbon was at today's post Cabinet Press Conference with Prime Minister Helen Clark, which started a little later than usual today.
In brief:
- Ms Clark said decisions on defence spending had been made but that these would not be announced till Wednesday;
- She outlined an upcoming trip (Monday 4th September) to New York for four days to attend the United Nations Millennium Summit;
- On the Dominion's 61% pro-cannabis reform poll result she said cannabis reform was "not a high priority" for the government;
- On the allegations concerning a dressing down given to Women’s Refuge's Merepeka Raukawa-Tait she said she was sure there had been "robust" discussions at the meeting and that Women's Refuge was an autonomous organisation and so could not be dressed down as if it was part of the Public Service.
Stories on some of these items will be published shortly in the Scoop Headlines Wire.
