Topp Twins Tops

NZ On Air funding has guaranteed the return of a top rating New Zealand comedy, Topp Twins, for another season.
At its August meeting, NZ On Air allocated $1 273 190 to two comedy series, Topp Twins III and Pulp Comedy V.
"Recent research commissioned by NZ On Air and released last week, shows that 63% of respondents watch drama and comedy programmes made with the help of NZ On Air, and that one of the most popular NZ On Air funded programmes is Topp Twins," said NZ On Air Chief Executive, Jo Tyndall.
"New Zealanders love to laugh. We have our own unique sense of humour and comedy icons. It's important for our nation's cultural identity that we see New Zealand comedy on our screens."
"The Topp Twins certainly have wide appeal and Pulp Comedy will continue to feature New Zealand's best stand-up performers and finest rising stars."
Ms Tyndall said that, despite their proven popularity, in a fully commercial environment these programmes would probably not be made,
