New Zealand now has its first photo stock library operating fully on-line.
This new internet based business will enable web page builders, illustrators and graphic designers to access photographs
via their computer.
The site provides a comprehensive photo search facility and once the viewer is registered with the site the images can
be purchased and downloaded to their own computer. Payment is made directly using the ASB Banks Online Credit Card
Payment system.
Jim Higgins, NZ Internet Society Chairman, launching the web site at Wellington's multimedia centre, e-vision, last
Wednesday welcomed the new site, noting the development alliance between Katipo Communications and Wellington City
Council's former Info City manager, Charles Bagnall.
"Charles was instrumental in guiding the establishment of Wellington's fibre optic network, City Link and Katipo have
been developing key web sites from the beginning of the WWW", Mr Higgins said. "Wellington's broad band network will
allow graphic designers easy and rapid access to the images
they want from this new site."
A feature of on-line stock libraries is that they sell on a no-royalty basis. Images are charged for on a file size
basis, this file size being a key determinant of how and where the image can be used.
