College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists hosts ‘World of Women’s Health’ Conference in Wellington
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) New Zealand Committee will be
hosting today its Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Wellington at The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa until
Friday, 2 October 2015.
The event will host over 200 local and international delegates dedicated to improving women’s health. The two-day
scientific programme will feature keynote speaker Dr Charles Koh, an internationally renowned laparoscopic surgeon,
international speaker Professor Jan Deprest, who is highly acclaimed in the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine, and
Professor Ronald W Jones (CNZM) who will be giving the Doris Gordon Memorial Oration on Friday 2 October at 12.00pm.
Looking ahead to the event, ASM Convenor, Dr Fali Langdana said: “The theme of this year's meeting is World of Women's
Health. We have an impressive line-up of speakers and a range of issues will be showcased, providing current thinking on
all the main areas of obstetrics and gynaecology and its impact on women’s health locally and internationally.”
“We are excited to present a number of key topics for discussion which range from pre-eclampsia conditions in severe
maternal morbidity, gynaecological cancers in pregnancy, endometrial cancer, to advances in fetal surgery and
collaborative care,” according to Dr Ian Page, Chair of the New Zealand Committee of RANZCOG.
“In New Zealand obstetricians and midwives have a commitment for the provision of seamless collaborative care in order
to provide the best outcomes for mothers and babies. Trust and co-operation between all those involved in maternity care
is vital to the provision of safe maternity care,” according to Dr Page.
