Nurses welcome new Director General of Health
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) warmly welcomes Chai Chuah to his new role as Chief Executive and Director-General of the Ministry of Health.
NZNO chief executive, Memo Musa says, “The appointment of Chai Chuah is good news for the health sector. Mr Chuah brings continuity and stability in leadership and a wealth of experience from his many previous roles in health.”
“We are pleased to be able to continue our good working relationship with him and commend him for his ongoing interest and attention to matters of importance to nurses and the nursing profession.”
“Especially at this time, when our health system is facing significant changes, it is welcome news to hear of such a positive appointment.” Mr Musa says.
“The issues facing nurses and the nursing profession like safe staffing, new graduate employment, nurse workforce shortages and pay equity will require his strategic foresight, courage and determination to resolve. NZNO looks forward to working with him to move the health agenda forward.”
