Charity Dinner And Auction To Cure Kids
What do some of New Zealand's most popular sports stars and a group of Accor hotel employees have in common?
They will be uniting to raise funds for the children of Fiji at a charity Dinner and Auction at Novotel Auckland
Ellerslie on 2 September.
The fundraiser is for the Accor Race to Survive to Cure Kids - a five day endurance race in which Accor employees will
test their physical limits with the aim of raising more than $300,000 dollars for vital medicine and equipment for the
children of Lautoka Hospital in Fiji.
Guests will be entertained by MC Phil Kingsley Jones and have a chance to meet rugby league legend Ruben Wiki, New
Zealand heavyweight boxing champion Shane Cameron, ultra marathon athlete Lisa Tamati and Monty Betham, rugby league
star, boxer and businessman.
As well as a night of entertainment and fine food and wine, the charity auction promises to be something special with
auction items including:
* Framed Warriors and All Blacks Jerseys - signed by current teams
* Framed Glove - signed by Shane Cameron
* 300 game testimonial shirt - signed by Ruben Wiki
* Personal training session with Shane Cameron
* Hot Laps with Dean Perkins at Pukekohe Raceway

'Team Trinity', who is hosting the event, is one of 15 Accor teams entering the race, which includes five grueling days
of ocean swimming, mountain biking, cross country running and outrigging and canoeing.
The race is to be held in the Fiji Islands in October and is organised by Accor and Cure Kids Fiji, the Fiji arm of New
Zealand's Cure Kids charity, an organisation which raises funds for vital medical research into life-threatening
childhood illnesses.
While Cure Kids research continues in New Zealand, the money raised by Accor will go to directly to the children's ward
of the nearby Lautoka Hospital to buy equipment, medicine and fund staff training via the visiting doctors program
devised by the charity and its supporters.
The inaugural Cure Kids Fiji Race to Survive event held in November 2006 was deemed a tremendous success raising
FJ$251,000. This year each team has to raise a minimum of NZ$7,000 just to enter, but try to raise more wherever
possible.
The Accor group operates four hotels in the Fiji Islands: Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa on Denarau Island, Novotel Nadi (formerly Mocambo), Mercure Hotel Nadi, and most recently the Tradewinds Hotel & Convention Centre (which is undergoing a renovation and will eventually become a Novotel).
