Sipahh® Mum’s latest weapon against milk rejection
While over 45% of New Zealand kids regularly consume soft drinks, a whopping 68% of children are not consuming enough dairy in their diet, according the results of the latest National Children's Nutrition Surveyi. Milk is essential for growing bodies as it provides critical nutrients such as protein, riboflavin, vitamin B12 and calcium which are vital to ensure kids reach their peak bone density and avoid conditions such as osteoporosis later in life. However, many kids simply don’t like the taste of milk preferring the sweetness and flavour of sugary soft drinks instead.
Fortunately, Sipahh® have created a truly innovative way for Mums to turn boring milk into a fun, healthy alternative to soft-drinks that their kids are sure to love. By simply inserting into ice-cold milk, taking a sip and saying ‘ahh’, Sipahh® transforms it into cool new flavours. Available in chocolate, strawberry, caramel and cookies and cream flavours, Sipahh encourages kids to enjoy a glass of milk rather than opting for the less healthy drink alternatives.
One serve of Sipahh® contains the equivalent of only half a teaspoon of sugar, considerably less than soft drinks and other milk-flavouring products. Each serving is also portion controlled so that kids aren’t provided the option to “double-load” as they are with many flavouring- alternatives. Milk is vital to the successful development of children. Recent studies conducted by the University of Otago show that children who do not drink enough milk have a three times greater chance of breaking a bone. One serving of Sipahh® with milk (recommended serving size 250ml) each day provides children with 44% of their calcium requirements. As Sipahh® contains no traces of dairy within the actual straws, it’s also a great way mums can wake up dairy alternatives (such as soy and rice milk) to ensure that kids with conditions such as a lactose intolerance are also getting the nourishment they require.
Flavoured milk is much kinder to kid’s teeth than soft drinks as it is not carbonated or acidic and contains casein, calcium and phosphorous which serve to buffer corrosive agents from the delicate surface of the teeth. Sipahh® also reduces the risk of tooth decay as it is consumed through a straw, a technique recommended by the Australian Dental Association as the beverage has less direct contact with the tooth’s surface. Sipahh® sell for $4.98 for a box of 10 (RRP) and you will find them in Countdown, Woolworths and Foodtown supermarkets, school canteens and also McDonalds on the Happy Meal menu.
