Camp Quality Raises $55,000 from National Awareness Week
More than $55,000 was raised from the first national Camp Quality Awareness Week campaign held last month.
The proceeds with assist Camp Quality; a not for profit volunteer organisation, continue to provide its support programmes for children living with cancer and their families.
Camp Quality Chairman Jim Grierson says it was the first time the organisation had attempted a national fundraising initiative and he was encouraged by the results. “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in running the events, particularly the numerous Lions Clubs around the country who were so generous with their time and support.”
“We are confident that with more planning throughout the regions, we can look forward to a really great result next year,” he says.
Camp Quality’s inaugural national awareness week was made all the more special with former league legend Stacey Jones on board as the new Camp Quality ambassador.
“It’s great to have Stacey on board, it’s been a thrill for the children,” says Mr Grierson. “Stacey has adopted the role with the same dedication he has demonstrated in his very successful rugby league career.”
Twenty three years since organising its first camp, Camp Quality NZ remains dedicated to bringing joy and laughter to the lives of children living with cancer through fun yet challenging recreational experiences.
Mr Grierson says “Each year at a cost of more than $500,000 we deliver, through the commitment of our 500 volunteers and willing helpers, fun programmes for children living with cancer. There is nothing more humbling than seeing the great big smiles on their faces at our various activities.”
