Daily Mouth Rinse Essential to Good Oral Care
Auckland, 3 May 2006 –Adding New Zealand’s favorite mouthwash *, Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash, to your daily routine is now clinically proven to provide significantly greater results over brushing alone.
There’s no doubt flossing and brushing are both good for your teeth, but they don’t complete the job. This combination still leaves up to 75 percent of your mouth which is not easily cleaned without using an antiseptic rinse. As teeth make up only about 25 percent of our mouth, our gums and tongue which are essential to peak health, also need to be kept hygienic too. Listerine’s liquid formula allows it to get to places your brush just can’t reach.
Abbie Malakai, Product Manager for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare says that recent research shows that many people still believe that a quick brush is all that is needed to achieve a clean mouth.
“Brushing alone is not enough to ensure a clean mouth. Only about 20 percent of us use a mouthwash, this means there are a lot of Kiwi’s who are missing out on the benefits of having healthy mouths simply by not using a quick mouth rinse each day,”says Malakai.
“Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash is proven to reduce development of plaque and gingivitis by up to 50% over just brushing, it is the simple addition for great results that brushing and flossing just can’t achieve alone.”
“Gingivitis, if left untreated, can lead to Gum disease, a health problem known to be the leading cause of tooth loss. With the results we’ve had proving Listerine’s ability to reduce the development of Gingivitis, there’s no doubt its worth using for 30 seconds twice a day.”
Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash is over 80 years old and when first launched it created the mouthwash category. As an extensively studied mouth rinse with over 130 published clinical studies, Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash when used in conjunction with brushing and flossing is proven to significantly reduce the development of plaque and gingivitis and help Kiwis keep a healthy smile for life.

About Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash
