Interim Chief Executive Announced For CDHB
The Chairman of the Canterbury District Health Board today announced that Dr Karleen Edwards will be the interim Chief
Executive of the Canterbury DHB from 30 July until the appointment and arrival of the new Chief Executive.
Dr Edwards is currently the General Manager of Canterbury DHB’s Planning & Funding Division, a position she has held for five years. She has an excellent understanding of the Canterbury DHB
locally and works closely with other District Health Boards and community health providers in her current role.
Mr Bradley said it was important that the Canterbury DHB does not lose any momentum and continues to operate in a
‘business-as-usual’ environment during the transition until the arrival of the new Chief Executive. Having Dr Edwards in
the interim role would best enable that transition to be smoothly managed.
‘We are currently in the recruitment phase and I anticipate being able to announce the new Chief Executive appointment
towards the end of next month.’
Mr Bradley said it could take up to five months until the new appointee would be able to take up the position.
