Public Open Day at Southland's New Hospital
The public of Southland will have an opportunity to tour through Southland's new hospital on Sunday 29 August 2004 between 10am-3pm, when Southland District Health Board (SDHB) holds a public open day.
Lexie O'Shea, Chief Operating Officer, says the open day is an opportunity for the public to see inside their new hospital before equipment and services move in.
"We will be providing guided tours through the new hospital, allowing people to see the hospital departments and ward areas and to get a feel for the new look and layout of the building," Mrs O'Shea said.
To help facilitate local residents being able to come to the open day, SDHB and Invercargill Passenger Transport Ltd (IPTL) will be putting on the Purple Circle bus.
The Purple Circle bus is a free Invercargill bus service, which will be running its normal Saturday route across the city to bring people up to the hospital. The first pick up from Movieland 5 will be at 9.15am and the last departure from the hospital will be at 3.30pm.
"It's going to be a great day and a really exciting opportunity for both the public and our staff to showcase Southland's new state of the art hospital," Mrs O'Shea said.
Departments begin moving into the hospital late October, with all services having moved in by 4 November 2004.
