HEALTH MINISTER PROLONGS SUFFERING
The Minister of Health, Annette King, has again decided she has the sole right to allow people such as Mr. Leo Danger to continue to live a quality of life far less than he deserves to be living. Her main objections to allowing people to use cannabis when instructed to do so by a doctor or specialist seem to be that the dose cannot be effectively measured and that she does not believe that most members of the house would want her to approve medicinal cannabis use until it is proven safe.
GreenCross Medicinal Cannabis Support Group members are appalled that Mrs. King would use misleading comments and prefer that people suffer and die while she waits for official figures and clinical trials.
Dr Donald Abrahms of UCSF is an expert in the area of cannabis use as proven by the Masters degree he holds on the subject and as a medical doctor specialises in the area of HIV. As recently as this year Dr Abrahms team have proven that cannabis is actually effective in relieving limb pain in people suffering HIV.
Safety is gained by using a vaporiser or eating cannabis which is something Mrs. King well knows but chooses to ignore as evidenced by her written answers in the house which show she frequently refers to the smoking of cannabis. When an AIDS sufferer faces death it is nonsensical to tell that person smoking cannabis will cause harm to the lungs. When a cancer patient chooses to end chemotherapy because the nausea is so bad or to expect Mr. Danger to suffer a life of semi consciousness on valium and morphine is nothing short of hypocritical and politically motivated bad medicine.
As Minister of Health Mrs. King should immediately acknowledge the evidence available and immediately move to stop the suffering our current cannabis law promotes.
