New Senior Staff Appointment

NEW SENIOR STAFF APPOINTMENT
The Chief Executive of the Canterbury District Health Board Jean O’Callaghan today announced the appointment of Jock Muir as the Board’s new Hospital and Specialist Services General Manager. Mr Muir will take up his appointment later this month.
Mr Muir comes originally from Dunedin. He gained a degree in economics and has spent several years working in health related areas including the Southern Regional Health Authority, the Health Funding Agency and in senior health administration roles, the most recent as Chief Executive of a large metropolitan hospital in Melbourne.
Mr Muir brings considerable health experience to this important position including strategic planning, knowledge and understanding of the hospital and specialist health services and will play a key role within the CDHB in these two areas. He has undertaken a number of specialist health consultancy roles in different locations throughout New Zealand.
He will play a key role in the strategic management of the Board’s hospital and specialist services and will work with the newly appointment Chief Medical Officer, Dr Nigel Millar and the Executive Director of Nursing Mary Gordon in this important area.
Mrs O’Callaghan said with the appointment of Mr Muir, the key strategic management appointments had now been concluded for the CDHB.
