Don't Wait Till The Last Minute For District Health Board Elections
Director of District Health Board Elections, David Curry, is hoping candidates don't leave it to the last minute to submit their nominations for the district health board elections.
People have only until midday this Friday (24 August) to be nominated for the seven elected positions on the 21 district health boards around New Zealand.
"If you are serious about standing don't delay," said Mr. Curry. "It's important to allow the electoral officers sufficient time to make sure that the nominations are complete and all in order."
Nominations for district health board and local body elections were initially relatively slow across the country but have picked up in recent days.
At noon today 207 people had been nominated for the 147 seats available.
"There are some areas with more candidates than positions available but in others very few names have come in so far," Mr. Curry said.
