Residents' Views Sought

Published: Tue 18 Apr 2000 04:48 PM
Views of residents on the Christchurch City Council's draft annual plan are being sought.
Details of the plan are contained in the Council's City Scene publication due out next week. Also included is a form for submissions from residents.
A television advertisement on TVOne and TV3 will also be screened to draw attention to the call for submissions on the plan. A television advertisement was used for the first time last year and it proved successful in bringing in more submissions than before. Submissions will be considered by an annual plan working party before the Council approves the final plan in July
This year's draft plan includes a 2.38 per cent overall average increase in rates. A special presentation of the draft plan will be held on 26 April at the Civic Offices for Christchurch business leaders and the media when Council officers will answer questions. Submissions on the plan will be received until 29 May.
This call for submission is separate from the annual residents' survey that is nearly completed. An independent group, the National Research Bureau, has conducted interviews for a month seeking residents' views on the Council's performance on a variety of topics. Results will be available in the middle of June.
