APSU Welcome NZQA Appointment

Published: Thu 23 Sep 1999 12:01 AM
The APSU Student Union has welcomed the announcement today that Dr. Norman Kingsbury will be taking over as Chief Executive Officer of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
"Dr. Kingsbury has been involved in the education sector for many years," said President John Barkess today. "He has shown a willingness to listen to all parties on any issue he is dealing with and then to make a considered decision."
"The qualities Dr. Kingsbury brings to this position are qualities that we have been advocating for in all government appointed positions; openness, honesty and integrity as well as an in-depth knowledge of the developments in New Zealand tertiary education."
"As we enter a further period of change a steady hand on the helm will be very important. The possible changes NZQA is facing will need careful management and we believe Dr. Kingsbury has more than enough respect within the sector to make these transitions smooth."
APSU Student Union is looking forward to meeting and working with Mr. Kingsbury in the future.
