Berhampore Primary School is fundraising to resurface its playground.
The popular play area is used not only by the school’s 280 pupils, but also the broader school community, including swim
students of the Little Makos Swim School, Pride Lands after-school care children and groups holding birthday parties at
the school pool.
It is the biggest playground of its type for primary aged children in the Berhampore area and is a popular facility for
the wider Berhampore community.
The playground features mostly wooden structures with plenty of nooks and crannies to encourage the imagination of young
minds, with a wide tray slide among its most popular attractions across all age groups.
The school is very proud of its playground, which brings back fond memories of their own childhoods for many parents.
However Wellington’s wind plays havoc with the bark surface on the playground, which has to be replaced every two years,
and the school wants to find a more permanent solution to keep the playground surface in top notch condition.
The school has started a Give A Little campaign to help raise $6,500 to purchase impact safety pads from Kiwi company
Burgess Matting & Surfacing around the playground’s fireman’s pole, wide slide, and steep slide, as well as replacement bark for other
areas of the playground.
We would greatly appreciate any help you could give us to raise awareness of our campaign. The school doesn’t receive
Ministry of Education funding to maintain its playground and needs the help of the community to assist with this
project.
