Waipa Campus becomes NZ’s first host of Engineering Wood Products Association of Australasia.
Waiariki Institute of Technology’s Waipa Campus near Rotorua is currently hosting the first Engineering Wood Products Association of Australia workshop to be held in New Zealand.
The practical workshops are held every two years and have been running since the 60s and this year have attracted 25 industry and educational specialists from Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand.
Acting Waiariki Institute of Technology Director of Forestry Primary Industries School John Kelly said it was a real triumph for Waiariki to have industry people involved in the laminated veneer lumber production at the Waipa Campus where those processes were used in its rebuilding.
“These guys are the gurus of LVL and it’s quite a coup for us to host the first New Zealand held workshop,” he said.
The workshop continues till Friday PM [November 30] and Waiariki Wood Engineer products trainers Doug Senior and Paul McGovern are taking part. ENDS
