Pukerua Bay ‘St Patrick’s Day’ School Gala 17 March 2012
Discover the luck of the Irish at the St Patrick’s Day Gala at Pukerua Bay School on Saturday 17 March 11am.
School principal Mary Jones says this year’s gala promises even more fun and activities than previously with the money from the gala earmarked for purchasing ICT equipment, in particular for classroom laptops.
“This equipment will help inspire the 21st century learners we are cultivating in this school.”
Ms Jones says, “We’ve gone all out this year on our entertainment and activities, there’s paint ball targets, medieval sword fighting for kids, the popular inflatable kid-a-pillar, train rides, bouncy castle, a dunking machine, waterslide and horse riding.
“We’re lucky to have Uncle Monkey providing live entertainment for people to listen to in between bargain hunting.”
The food court this year will include Polish hot dogs, a gourmet barbecue, coffee cart and a fabulous tearoom. All the usual stalls will be open for business and include toys, clothing, bric-a-brac, books and a silent auction.
Last year the gala raised $28,000 for the school which is being spent on resurfacing the hard court areas of the school.
“This is really impressive for such a small school of 162 children and indicates the level of support for the school in the community.”
