A world exclusive voice-over school is about to be run in Christchurch.
The ‘Voice School’ is run by Christchurch-based studios and media producers, Tandem Voice Booth, and has been running
annual courses for 3 years.
It focuses on improving the abilities of the participants and teaches them efficient ways of gaining work, providing
voiceovers for TV, Radio, phone systems and multimedia projects.
Tutors on the course include seasoned voice professionals, heard daily on radio, in supermarkets, and on television.
Tutors include; Richard Green, Deb Stanaway, Andie Spargo, and Dave Dunlay.
The course director, Toby Ricketts, says “This school is the only one of it’s kind in the world and offers aspiring
voice talent to learn and perfect their skills before becoming a professional voice artist.”
The course covers;
• Character voicing and accents.
•
• What clients look for and how to get work.
•
• General speech, breathing, and relaxation.
•
• Voice acting, radio drama.
•

can be used by anyone who uses their voice for authority. CEOs, airline pilots, and teachers can all find benefits from
learning about their voice and how to properly apply it in their line of work” says Toby Ricketts.
A demo CD is produced as part of the course which the students can use to obtain voice work in New Zealand and around
the world.
The cost is $675 including GST and runs for 2 days on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of January 2009, from 9am – 4pm
Another course is scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of February.
