New Staff Representative on Wintec Council
Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology) staff have elected Kristi Bernards onto the governing body of the institute.
Ms Bernards replaces Diane Hodges, a Microbiology Technician in the department of Science and Technology at Wintec for 25 years and who has recently retired. Mrs. Hodges had completed 14 years on the Council and was on the Council’s Finance and Asset committee. She was also vice president for several years TIASA - Tertiary Institutes Allied Staff Assoc. Prior to election to Council.
Ms Bernards gained a Bachelor of Information Technology degree at what was the Waikato Polytechnic prior to working in industry and in the education sector as a tutor for the National Certificate in Electronic Multimedia at Carich where she became Regional Manager for the Hamilton Campus. She joined the IT staff of Wintec in 2004.
Chair of council Gordon Chesterman said while sorry to lose the capabilities and experience of Diane Hodges, Ms Bernards brought excellent sector experience and a unique perspective to the role.
