Students show the way at design show
A hit of designEXNZ 07 has been the Plush Fashion Café and, in particular the work of students from Whitecliffe College of Art and Design.
"The all three sessions wowed the audience," says designEXNZ manager Michele Harrod. "The creativity and flair that they applied to the materials supplied by exhibitors was outstanding. We received highly positive feedback from some very senior designers and respected names in the industry."
Michele says that the feat was even more memorable because the students created the work over 3 days and some very late nights - and all part way through exams.
"The first event featured draping, the second was for sewn pieces, and the final of the day was freestyle.
"All six teams of students showed an immense talent, with a proportion of outstanding work that would beat or exceed that found at many international events featuring big names in the design world."
designEXNZ finishes tomorrow, and is on at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland. It is a trade-only event.
designEXNZ offers a showcase of new and innovative products, exciting features, and informative seminars. For the first time designEXNZ 07 incorporates Plush, New Zealand's foremost fabrics and textiles trade show.
