Countdown for applications for $34 million of new tertiary education funding
Tertiary education organisations have four weeks to bid for $34 million of new funding for innovative and e-learning
projects.
“The e-Learning Collaborative Development Fund and the Innovation and Development Fund make $34 million available for
projects that build capability within the tertiary education system,” Tertiary Education Commissioner Shona Butterfield
said today.
Applications for the new funds close on 26 September 2003.
“The two news funds provide a fresh opportunity for tertiary education organisations to carry out work that helps meet
the goals of the Tertiary Education Strategy and really adds to their organisation by developing staff capability.”
Ms Butterfield told the Institutes of Training and Polytechnics of New Zealand e-Learning Conference that e-learning in
our tertiary education organisations had to mature.
“E-learning needs to move from being the domain of early innovators, to being embedded in the way an organisation
operates.
“We are preparing for an e-learning future and this new funding will help us take steps towards that future.
“That means having the capability within organisations. That is where the e-Learning Collaborative Development Fund
comes in. It aims to help us move to a new state of preparedness for e-learning,” Ms Butterfield said.
