Studentz.co.nz Joins Hands with the Aussies
Studentz.co.nz has turned its back on a tradition of Trans-Tasman rivalry to create an official partnership with Australia’s leading online student magazine – StudentPoint.com.au.
Studentz.co.nz, New Zealand's independent online magazine for tertiary students, considers the partnership with StudentPoint as a unique opportunity to create a new resource for Australian students, and to offer businesses the chance to talk to students on both sides of the Tasman simultaneously.
Benny Hollenstein, Managing Director of StudentPoint approached Studentz.co.nz founder Spencer Willis about an alliance in January, and just two months later, StudentPoint has been re-launched in the successful Studentz format.
“The StudentPoint / Studentz proposal consisted of an ideal tripartite outcome right from the start. The students now have a better resource thanks to our editorial and content sharing arrangement; clients have a unique opportunity to be involved in the first student-focussed trans-Tasman online resource; and both StudentPoint and Studentz have the opportunity to expand their scope and improve their business models,” says Mr Willis.
Mr Hollenstein says the alliance with Studentz will take StudentPoint to the next level.
“Our partnership with Studentz.co.nz will be of great benefit to the Australian student market. It opens StudentPoint up to the entire country, provides users a greater range of content, and adds advertising value for our clients.”
The relaunch has transformed StudentPoint site from a textbook trading and career advice site into a comprehensive student resource complete with discussion forums, course advice and entertainment features.
The two sites will share content, playing on each others strengths, and for the first time ever – students from both sides of the Tasman have a dedicated platform that allows them to talk about everything from the Bledisloe Cup to study issues.
StudentPoint.com.au is part of The StudentPoint Association formed in 2000 by Benny Hollenstein & boasts an impressive array of Directors who also sit on the boards of eBay, Morgan Stanley and AMP. The association is an independent organisation formed to foster the business acumen of talented, motivated tertiary students.
Studentz.co.nz was also launched in 2000 & set out to provide New Zealand tertiary students with a unique, comprehensive and fun online community with no political or tertiary affiliations. The site now boasts over 2500 articles on everything from entertainment to practical course information, and provides a place for students to voice their opinions and have their writing published.
Mr Willis says with the partnership comes a combined trans-Tasman advertising model that will allow brands and businesses on both sides of the Tasman to reach a combined database of 20,000 students. “This is the first time a partnership has been created between two trans-Tasman sites to create one platform that offers the same rate card and a much larger audience. The beauty for agencies is the simplicity that this marriage creates and an opportunity to hit both territories from either country,” says Mr Willis.
“If the student body are big part of your target market you can now interact with them with ease.”
