Victoria University Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Pat Walsh is to spearhead the University's move into the Performance
Based Research Fund.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Stuart McCutcheon said Professor Walsh had been given an additional responsibility as the Pro
Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for research across the University.
The new role means Professor Walsh becomes Convenor of the University Research Committee and Victoria's nominee on the
NZVCC Research Committee.
"As PVC (Research), Professor Walsh will be responsible for providing leadership to give effect to many of the
strategies contained in the Research Plan the University adopted last year. Research performance will increasingly
become a driver of both funding and our reputation, not the least through the Performance Based Research Fund," says
Professor McCutcheon.
"Professor Walsh has a distinguished research record in his own right and I'm confident that he will play a key role in
ensuring Victoria is well placed adapt to the new funding environment."
Professor Walsh's new responsibility is in addition to his work as Dean of Commerce & Administration and the Pro Vice-Chancellor to whom the Heads of the Schools of accounting & commercial law, economics & finance, information management, marketing & international business and the Victoria Management School report.
