Major Conference On Adult And Community Education 17th-19th May
A major Adult and Community Education (ACE) Conference is to be held in Auckland this weekend that will bring together
educators from around the country.
The purpose of the Conference is to celebrate the recognition of the ACE sector as part of the education system by the
Government. It is also intended that it will act as a forum for the sector to examine how it can advance the vision for
ACE outlined in the Report of the Working Party on Adult Education and Community Learning.
The Conference takes place amidst exciting changes in the sector, spearheaded by the Government. “The Government has
established a Reference Group on ACE, recently appointed a Chief Advisor on Adult and Community Education and provided
funding to support a number of implementation projects that include broadening educators’ participation in this
Conference”, said Judi Altinkaya, Chief Advisor, Adult and Community Education.
Altinkaya also said “the Working Party report has generated high interest and enthusiasm within the ACE sector and this
national conference offers a real opportunity for consultation with the sector.”
