Get Stuck In Maharey – No Tears For Rankin

Published: Mon 2 Jul 2001 10:33 AM
“Many thousands of Students won’t spare a tear as nightly the imminent departure of WINZ CEO Christine Rankin is beamed into their homes,” Aotearoa Tertiary Students Association President Keith Clark commented today.
“Have we all forgotten that under Christine’s stewardship thousands of New Zealand Students were forced into food banks, they dropped out of classes unable to make ends meet,” said Clark.
“What about the 22,000 students that received an incorrect loan contract. Or of the weeks when WINZ was losing 22% of their calls at their O800 number. Students had to fight for a select committee inquiry, which ATSA notes Mrs. Rankin did not bother to turn up and listen to what the public had to say. If this is the calibre of Public Sector Officials then off with her head I say,” said Clark.
“With the indignant images of Christine Rankin appearing to face the music over the student Loan debacle firmly in my mind, I say to you Maharey. Keep your eye on the pill. Keep your head low, do a good job and get stuck in,” said Clark.
