MMF NZ Celebrate 15th Anniversary of NZ Music Managers Awards
Recorded Music NZ Manager of the Year Award to be presented at Artisan Awards
The Recorded Music NZ Manager of the Year award recognises the tireless commitment of those working behind the scenes to support the success of New Zealand’s musicians. There is no underestimating the variety of roles, incredible dedication, hard work and achievements of artist managers and self-managed artists.
Celebrating the 15-year anniversary of the MMF NZ Music Manager Awards, the Recorded Music NZ Manager of the Year award will be presented at the NZ Music Artisan Awards in November, held in Wellington as part of Tui Music Week at Massey University’s School of Music and Creative Media Production. The award will be presented alongside the Tui’s for Best Producer, Best Engineer, Best Music Video, Best Album Cover and Music Teacher of the Year.
Teresa Patterson, Chairperson of the NZ Music Managers Forum says, “We are incredibly honoured to have the 'Recorded Music NZ Manager of the Year' Award included as part of the VNZMA Artisan Awards, and to be able to mark the 15-year anniversary of the NZ Music Managers Awards in such a significant way. This award celebrates the hard work of talented music managers and self-managed artists, and we are thrilled for it to be presented in November alongside the creative technicians and visual artists who also dedicate their craft to the success of NZ musicians.”
Damian Vaughan, CEO of Recorded Music NZ adds, “ We are very pleased to welcome Manager of the Year into the Artisan Awards and VNZMA whanau. Music Managers are an increasingly important and crucial component to an artist establishing and sustaining a successful career in music. We are honoured to present this award and acknowledge those managers guiding our kiwi artists forward.”
The MMF NZ Music Manager Awards have grown from strength to strength over the last 15 years, and have gone on to become one of the most respected awards in the NZ music industry. In accordance with this growth and recognition, the MMF NZ are now looking to change and evolve the annual May event, which will return to Auckland in 2020.
