Cuetone Media are proud to announce the debut of New Zealand’s newest comedy musical Karaoke Boiz taking place during the 2019 Pride Festival, coming to the Loft at Q Theatre on 7-9 February, and 14-16 February 2019.
Written by acclaimed creators, Daryl Wrightson and Kermath, and Directed by the multi-talented Tom Sainsbury, Karaoke Boiz features an award-winning cast including
Liv Tennet, Hamish McGregor, Daryl Wrightson, Zak Enayat, Kermath, Cherie Moore,Jess Hunt, Ava Diakhaby, and Ash Ogden.
“We wanted to create a fictional backstory of the most famous pop band that’s ever existed through the celebration of what we imagine karaoke was like in its heyday”, says Kermath and Daryl Wrightson.
“This play is just so much fun”, Adds Tom Sainsbury. “It's all the great karaoke numbers - ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Don't Stop Me Now’, ‘Call Me’ - and toe-tapping dance numbers and kiwi humour. I'm very excited to be working on it.”
Jump on board Wayne’s Karaoke Wagon as he takes you on a journey down the Waikato to discover new friends, foes and the biggest pop band to ever grace the planet.
Spice up your night and kick back with your Karaoke King, as he combs the country for the most bitch-perfect band to rule them all.
This stellar stand-out cast of 9 musical performers is pure perfection... This should really be on at The Civic!
Directed by the talented Tom Sainsbury, this will be a tale of love, lust, laughter, and a shit-load of F'n fun.
“Creating choreography for actors is one of my truly great joys - I also have a deep love of karaoke and a penchant for the ridiculous”, says choreographer Lara Liew, “so it completely appeals to create a world where power moves and BV girls punctuate the drama and a karaoke smash hit is never far from anyone’s lips.”
“We’re lucky enough to work with some of the best in the NZ theatre scene right now. Tom Sainsbury, Jason Smith and Lara Liew are powerhouses in their crafts. We’ve also managed to acquire one of NZ’s best theatre lighting rigs; we’re planning to make the show a pretty special experience”, adds Kermath.
