Headline: Triple C is Unifying Singers In the Capital
Wellington is choir mad, in a good way.
A new concert brings four choirs together in a celebration of great choral and ensemble singing.
More than 150 singers of all ages are converging on the Opera House stage for the Triple C Concert on September 9th.
Hosted by the award-winning New Zealand Youth Choir, the choirs will sing some of their own songs, some together with
another choir, and a couple of big whoppers will all singers on stage together.
Taking part are the Wellington Youth Choir, FilCoro, and Wellington Young Voices.
They’ll perform David Hamilton’s Dance-Song to the Creator with double piano and percussion with everyone on stage in a
spectacular grand finale.
Nine-year-old Neve Herrmann has been rehearsing for the performance with her choir, Wellington Young Voices.
“We’ll be singing with the New Zealand Youth Choir, I can’t wait,” she says.
The inaugural Triple C concert is also a showcase for the national youth choir who’ll sing a substantial programme.
Led by music director David Squire they’ll present a wide range of music from today and the past, New Zealand and around
the world. The New Zealand Youth Choir’s set includes Flame - Ben Parry, Aurora luci rutilat – Orlande de Lassus,
Brahms’ Four Quartets, Through coiled stillness – Leonie Holmes and the waiata Waerenga-a-Hika that has brought so much
recognition for the choir on their international and national tours.
A post-concert Q & A session will be covering topics like joining a choir near you, or getting your kids into a choir, and audience
feedback.
