Grammy-nominated Jhené Aiko returns to New Zealand for one night only with special guest Ladi6
Jhené Aiko is bringing her TRIP tour down under this September.
Presented by Pato Entertainment and The Hour Group, the Grammy-nominated pop icon will perform an all-ages show at the Logan Campbell Centre in Auckland on Thursday,September 20.
Aiko will be joined by New Zealand’s own award-winning electronic, soul and r’n’b act,Ladi6.
Jhené Aiko’s second full-length album TRIP is the long-awaited follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2014 debut LP, SOULED OUT, which entered the R’n’B Albums chart at #1 upon its release.
“Jhené Aiko transforms heartbreak, tragedy and existential crises into a dreamyescape,” raved TIME magazine, with Pitchfork declaring, “[the album] surges with a lush, aquatic gravitas, distinctly R’n’B but never confined to genre conventions.”
The album’s first single and video, ‘The Pressure’ has more than 11.1 million YouTube views to date.
SOULED OUT took flight on the strength of Aiko’s phenomenal #1 debut EP, SAIL OUT(2013), the biggest-selling EP in Def Jam history with her sizzling BET award-winning and Grammy-nominated #1 platinum crossover hit ‘The Worst’, as well as collaborations withKendrick Lamar, Vince Staples and Childish Gambino for ‘Bed Peace’.
Aiko already had more than a decade of experience before releasing SAIL OUT, having been featured on singles, albums, and mixtapes by A-listers Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Big Sean, Logic, J. Cole, Drake and many more. In 2016 she also collaborated with multi-platinum superstar Big Sean.
Having joined Drake on his 39-city North American "Would You Like A Tour?" tour, Aikonow makes it back to the southern hemisphere for this one-off all-ages Auckland show.
With Grammy nominations up her sleeve and a tonne of support from her peers, Jhené Aiko is not to be missed.
Ladi6, New Zealand’s own Queen of soul and r’n’b, recently released the 2017 VNZMA award-winning record, ROYAL BLUE 3000 and has developed a reputation for being of the most exciting live acts in New Zealand.
