A Haunting Performance for a Wholesome Cause
Nothing is sacred when it comes to the Auckland Med Revue and this year is no different. It is a two hour show that
performs at SKYCITY Theatre 24th-26th August. Entirely produced by Auckland University medical students, the Revue
includes songs, skits, dances parodies and more. If you are a fan of tongue in cheek comedy, ridiculous skits or
broadway theatre then the Auckland Med Revue has something to offer you!
This year’s theme is ‘The Phantom of the Operating Theatre’. The show follows the story of a young doctor, Christine
Diae, as she tries to make her way in the world of medicine whilst dealing with romantic entanglement, prima donna
surgeons and of course the mysterious figure of the Phantom.
The show draws inspiration from the original production of the Phantom of the Opera along with other broadway and pop
hits to create its musical backbone. Along with this, a plethora of clever and outrageous skits which will leave you
thinking ‘did they really just do that?’
Besides being a fun night out, it’s also for a good cause with all the profits from this year's revue go to Youthline.
In an evermore complicated world for young people, Youthline is a vital pillar upon which many been supported by during
tough times. Youthline offers counselling, helplines, development workshops and a safe space for people to turn to along
with an astounding number of incredible support systems for youths.
The main sponsor of the Revue this year is MAS - a mutual that provides its members with comprehensive insurance,
financial and investment products and lending solutions. Other major sponsors are Sky TV and the Faculty of Medical and
Health Sciences - University of Auckland.
